How many lights can I put on an existing circuit breaker?

We are replacing our fluorescent kitchen lighting with halogen track lights. We currently have 160 watts (4 x 40 watt fluorescent). How do I know the max watts when we replace? We have standard 120v circuit box. We would like to put in 12 x 50 watt halogens (6 on each side). Will this blow our circuit?

That depends on your breaker, wire size and other lights that might be on the circuit. If you have 12/2 wire and a 20 amp breaker, you can go up to 1920 watts. I would think that you would be fine adding roughly 700 watts. You will need a 1000 WATT LUTRON DIMMER CONTROL.
