I currently have direct-wired fluorescent under cabinet lights hardwired to a wall switch. Each of the three fixtures has its own wiring coming through the wall. I would like to replace the fixtures with recessed Xenon disk or puck lights. Can I wire these directly into the wiring linked to the switch, or do they require a transformer? If a transformer is required, does it have to be in a
junction box? I can hide the wiring in routed tracks, but it would be difficult to hide/enclose a junction box. Thanks!
You can simply replace the fluorescent lights with XENON LIGHTS. These high performance task lights will work without having to modify the existing wiring. You can also dim these lights is desired. The same fixtures are also available as HALOGEN LIGHTS as well.

I have two projects I want to light. The first is the front of the house. The house is around 60 ft wide and the yard slopes at a 1/4 down towards the road (40 ft from house). (The house is at the top of a gentle hill.) I would like to uplight the front, but don''t know what to use or how to get the power there. I do know that I want to do it with one or 2 lights. The second project has to do with the back yard. I have a hill on the back with a large cedar tree and several smaller trees. I stepping stones going up the hill that I would like to light up. I have frequent foot traffic (I live behind my church) and want to light up from there to my home. I currently have solar powered path lights that do the trick, but they keep getting damaged by animals and children. Can I spotlight the entire area from the house? Or what should I do?Help!
The best way to light the front of your house is with one of our PRE-PACKAGED LOW VOLTAGE LIGHTING KITS. These lighting kits contain all the fixtures, stakes, lamps, wire and transformer to complete the job. They are easy to install and will do a great job lighting the house and landscaping. I would suggest testing with one of the lights before installing the full system to identify the best mounting locations. We also have a DESIGNING LOW VOLTAGE LIGHTING SYSTEMS PAGE for more information on landscape lighting designs and LOAD CALCULATIONS.
For the back yard, you could simple purchase another TRANSFORMER and use some of the lights and DIRECT BURIAL WIRE from the kit in the back. I would suggest installing some LOW VOLTAGE PATH LIGHTS in lieu of the solar lights for better lighting levels. These lights are commercial grade and should withstand the kids and animals.

My house has 30 halo uninsulated lights on the top floor of my house and they are installed in an attic with blown in insulation. I am getting a lot of HVAC heat loss thru these cans and is there a way to correct this problem?
The easiest way to solve the problem is simply replace the fixtures with new air seal housings that are designed for direct contact with insulation.
The HALO H25ICAT HOUSING or HALO H7ICT HOUSING would be perfect for replacing your standard Halo white can. The other option is to build and install custom metal boxes or shrouds over every fixture in the attic.
Either way, it will require some effort to solve the problem. With the cost of electricity going up, it should take you no time to get a good return on your investment.

I have a 12 volt transformer with a photosensor/timer for my outdoor low voltage lighting in my backyard. I would like to have a similar setup for my front yard. However, due to possible theft, I would like to keep the transformer in the garge and only have the photocell exposed in the front yard. I am looking for a remote photosensor that would trigger a timer that would stay on for a specified amount of time after it is switched on. In a nutshell, I am looking for a photosensor and a timer to facilitate this system. Thank you.
Sorry, we do not have any PHOTOCELLS with built in timers. If you find one, please send me the link. I would be interested in learning more about these kinds of controls.

I have an entire strand of icicle lights that stopped working after a wind storm. I have additional strands plugged into the bad strand on both sides and they are working. I checked the fuses and inspected and replaced all the bad bulbs I could identify. I find it confusion that the strands that come after the bad strand are still working. Any ideas?
You should invest in a lamp and wire tester designed for Christmas lights. They can help you detect cuts, bad sockets and bad lamps that may be causing the problem. I wish I had a better answer for you.
It's usually something simple!

We have both MERCURY VAPOR WELL LIGHTS and METAL HALIDE WELL LIGHTS that have multi-tap ballasts that will operate on 277 volts. We have them in stock and ready for immediate shipment. Be sure and dig an extra deep hole and install pea gravel for drainage. Also, install the junction box above grade and make all connections in the box to prevent water from siphoning into the fixture.
