How to design a 12-volt landscape lighting system

I have a 25 foot flagpole that I would like to illuminate - I think 2 50 watt spot/floods should do it. It is approximately 150' from my house & outlet, direct, but if I try to route the cable partially through flower beds instead of directly through the yard, the distance goes to 200'. Will I be ok with 12 gauge wire and a 100 watt transformer?

John

Hello John,

You cannot safely run 100 watts on 12 gauge wire in a 200 ft straight line. However, this is permissible with a continuous loop.

Please read my helpful guide on how to design low-voltage landscape lighting system, including wiring tips and facts about supply cable.

Thank you for your business. Please feel welcome to write back or call.

Can I use a multi-port Nutone bathroom fan in one large bathroom?

Yes, Nutone Multi-Port bathroom exhaust fans work best for large rooms, because you would be able to install the ports over the areas where the ventilation is needed the most (source control). The size of the multi-port would be determined by the size of the room.

Can I install Nutone bath fans in a wall?

Nutone Bathroom fans can be used in the wall. Mount the fan as high as possible on the wall. When wall thickness is an issue, use "thinner" fans. You can contact Technical Support for other fans that may be used in wall applications. Any fan with a light should not be installed in a wall.

Not All Prelit Artificial Christmas Trees Are Created Equal!

Cove Lighting Provides Continuous Dramatic Lighting

Architectural coves invite the challenge of providing continuous dramatic lighting- and the Phantom Lighting Systems has successfully met that challenge with cove lighting. Due to our low profile design and unique construction, we are able to provide an extreme amount of flexibility in our adaptation to unusual shapes or radius coves. The cove lighting system also requires less space and allows for a tighter and cleaner fit, as well as furnishing a warm continuous light through the use of dimmers. These features make cove lighting far superior to traditional systems and apply to both kick space and window valance installations. Click here for full article.

Where do I install a Nutone bathroom exhaust fan in the ceiling?

Usually an Nutone exhaust fan should be installed in, or closest to, the shower enclosure. Provide inlet for "make up" air by an undercut door and/or air diffuser. A forced air diffuser is also an inlet. Imagine a line between the inlet and the fan - position both to "sweep" the room.
