Phantom low voltage lighting is designed for indirect lighting on wood timbers.
I'm building a timber frame and want to use low voltage lights on top of the beams for mood lighting. Do I need to put the wire in conduit from the transformers in the basement to the beams? I recommend using PHANTOM COVE LIGHTS on top of the beams for a soft indirect light source. Select the 10 watt Xenon frosted lamps spaced 6" on center with a 24 volt remote magnetic transformer. As for wiring, you will need a couple of 12/2 or 10/2 home run wires from the top of the beam to the transformer in the basement. It is always a good idea to run conduit for backup, however Romex® is fine as long as it meets the local electrical code.
For best results, install a LUTRON DIMMER CONTROL for adjusting the light levels for mood lighting.
