Metal halide lights used to illuminate flags at veteran''s memorial.
To whom it may concern, I am currently working on a Veteran''s Monument that will have 8 flags illuminated throughout the night. I am going to use the RAB VR300F Floodlights for the design with 150 Watt PAR38 lamps. I would also like to use the 12 gauge/2 connector Direct Burial Cable for the job. Do you recommend running that cable through conduit? If so, what size? I''d also like to see what you recommend for a power supply/transformer for the project. Should I run 8 separate lines off of a transformer, or should I run them in series? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you for any help you can give me. Sincerely,Michael
First of all, I commend your service to our country! Let's do this project right!
You do not want to use PAR38 lamps due to short lamp life of maybe 3000 hours. Do the math: 12 X 365 = 4,380 hours! This is not a good choice of fixtures or lamps.
I would go with our Large 175W Metal Halide Lighting Fixture with Single Up light Kit - TEC R4AG24147 with the spot lamp and hub mount option. Your flags will glow in the night air like you have never seen before. You should two per flag if you want them awesome looking or one per pole for very attractive lighting. The lamp life on these fixtures is 24,000 hours!
Since this is a public facility, you should run the wires in conduit or you could use 12/2 UF cable that should be buried 18" deep to comply with the National electrical code. Use some landscaping around the fixtures to conceal them from view.
I salute your efforts!
