Leviton 3-way switch used on ceiling fans and lighting loads.

Leviton - Decora 3-way Rocker Switches 5603-2?I used this switch for a 4amp whole house fan and the motor burned up. Can this switch be used for that application or should I have used a different switch? When I first turned it on it groaned a little then it got up too speed but I could smell the motor. By the time I shut it off it was too late.

Sounds like you had your wires crossed and burned up the fan. Sorry this happened to you! This LEVITON SWITCH is more than adequate to operate your fan or lights. It is rated at 15-amps.
