What should I look for in a good home lighting fixture?

I always check to see that the fixture has a UL sticker, which means it complies with published safety standards from Underwriter's Laboratory. Secondly, I look at the quality of the materials to see that it is constructed well and is sturdy. And finally, I like to see if the fixture has good proportions and style. Once, you have checked these simple guidelines, you a ready to make your selection.
