Voltage drop is causing my low voltage lighting to be incredibly dim and ineffective. Help!
I have some existing low voltage lighting in my yard. This weekend, I added some more light to the system without really understanding voltage drop. After reading your "ASK THE EXPERTS" section of your website, I think I need a new transformer. What do you recommend that will boost the power to my new lights?Voltage drop is a very common problem with "Do it yourselfers", so don't feel bad. Assumming that you have at least 12/2 LANDSCAPE CABLE and no more than 100-watts of light on that new circuit, here's what I would buy. TECHLIGHT USA makes a 600 WATT MULTI-TAP TRANSFORMER in a stainless steel enclosure that will solve your problem. Multi-tap means that it has multiple voltage outputs of 12V, 13V, 14V and 15V. So you can boost the power on the long runs! This will most certainly solve your voltage drop problem.
