Outdoor Landscape Lighting Design
I want to uplight 3 very large oak trees in my back yard. 2 trees are 30 feet from the planned mounting location and 1 is around 90 feet away. Each tree is around 70 feet high. Can I illuminate them with low voltage floods or must I use 120 volt? Watts? Bulb type? Can I aim a 120 volt fixture into the sky? I also want to turn them on demand. Do any transformers have on/off switches?
You could light them with low voltage lighting but it will be more effective with mercury vapor line voltage fixtures. I would use two 175 WATT MERCURY VAPOR UP LIGHTS for each tree. You can either select the hub option to mount the light directly on the ballast box or remote the ballast for a cleaner look up to 100 feet away! It will look fantastic and the fixtures are designed to point upwards without a problem. We also have TIME CLOCKS and PHOTOCELLS to automate your lighting system.
